Acanthus Scroll
This beautiful piece of acanthus scroll was originally from the governor's mansion in Utah whose interior was destroyed by fire. Agrell Architectural Carving was commissioned to replace the woodcarving (approximately 20,000 hours of work). The carved decoration appeared to have been produced in Europe at the end of the 19th century; we took the opportunity to copy an extra piece for our records. The original acanthus wood carving was on either side of a cartouch in one of the ground floor rooms; however, this design could be easily adapted to use as frieze for a carved fire mantel.
