Ribbon and Moulding
Carving a ribbon is always fun. Changing a piece of a tree into a wood carved ribbon and doing it well always has an element of virtuosity and also allows a skilled woodcarver to show off a bit (particularly to other wood carvers).
This example is almost perfect except for a small blemish in the design rather than the execution. We will let you discover this fault rather than expose ourselves in public. The carved moulding below the ribbon is called gudrooning.
