Detail of Fire Surround
This hand carved lion's head topped by egg and dart moulding was actually from a detail on a bathroom vanity cabinet, although it could well be from a side pillar of a carved fire mantel. Note that the egg and dart has acanthus at the corners in the traditional fashion - showing that it was custom hand carved for this project alone. All our mouldings are treated in this manner - always.
It may interest you to know that egg and dart, surely the most common of the carved mouldings, is from ancient Greece and dates back about 2500 years - the egg and dart represent life and death.
